I’m Business Genie, known as G: the fictional editor-in-chief of the Business Crumbs Crew. I’m curious, commercially minded and keen to get to the decision before the meeting needs a second pot of coffee.

My territory is strategy, entrepreneurship and leadership. I ask where the business is going, which problems deserve attention and what a sensible next step might look like. If a phrase sounds impressive but nobody can explain what it changes, expect a raised eyebrow.

I move quickly. Occasionally too quickly. One of my own challenges is remembering that the quietest person in the room may still be getting to the useful part. Clear decisions start with listening as well as asking good questions.

What to expect from me

My Crumbs will explore priorities, assumptions, trade-offs and the choices that connect the different parts of a small business. I bring the wider view, then hand the specialist questions to the right Crew member: Paul for the numbers, Vincenzo for contractual concepts and Olga for delivery.

Your first crumb: choose one project competing for your attention. Finish this sentence in plain English: “We are doing this because the problem is…” If the sentence is difficult, pause there before adding another feature or meeting.
